Auto Attendant

The auto attendant feature is your virtual receptionist. The auto attendant will ask the user to respond to a series of prompts such as “For sales, press 1, For service press 2”.  Try to keep your auto attendant script short and if you record it record it at a brisk clip, slow enough to be understood but fast enough to move along quickly. You should always give the caller the option of leaving a message or defaulting to a live attendant if possible.

Call Screening

Call screening allow you to know who is calling before you answer the call. It requires that the caller say their name which is recorded and played for your before you pick up the call. You then have the option of answering the call, routing it to someone else or sending it to voicemail. Though this seems like a very cool feature it can be annoying to callers and should be used sparingly.

Unlimited business phone service

Phone Power, with its smartly priced, high quality network has quickly carved a niche for itself. With specialized plans for both residential customers and for small businesses.  Positive reviews about Phone Power are showing up and customers are raving about it. So, we decided to find out what all the hype is about.

An Overview

At the first glance, Phone Power comes across as any other VoIP service provider does. Cost effective solutions for both home and business are at the fulcrum of their service. The installation requires no special equipment or expertise. All that is required is a Grandstream Handy Tone 502 adaptor that is available from the company on free lease. Unlike some other providers, you do not need to buy special phones as long as you have corded or cordless phones and an internet connection at home. If you are not very tech savvy and find it difficult to install such services, then the technical support are well adept at guiding you through the process. They are very well versed with the technicalities and common problems one encounters while handling equipment like modem and routers.

Features & Plans

There is not much to choose between VoIP providers when it comes to basic features. But its small additions combined with affordability that makes an ordinary service provider a better one.

Phonepower has two plans.

Homew & Small Business: This plan is for residential users and for SMBs and is priced at $14.95 mo if you sign up for their 24 months contract, $16.95 in the 12 month contract and at $19.95 if you use it monthly. It includes unlimited minutes to and from the USA and Canada, including Alaska and Hawaii.

All add on features like Caller ID, Call Waiting, 3-Way calling and Voicemail which usually cost an extra buck with other service providers are included here. They even include the ability to receive Faxes at no charge.

Other than this, it also includes a completely free cloned second line. So, you can effectively receive the same call on two different telephones. If one is busy, you can still answer the call on the second one without having to put the first call on hold.

Business Plans: This plan is aimed at large businesses and includes all the features of a residential line plus specialized features like conference calling, call hunting, on hold music and auto attendant. For the individual owner or small business owner it offers Unlimited business phone service

Standout Features

  • Voice clarity is second to none. In fact, its almost impossible to know that you are speaking on a VoIP phone.
  • They offer all their plans on a per line basis which makes it perfect for SMBs.
  • It’s a complete solution-in-a-box as nothing else is required to install the package except the grandtone adapter.
  • The pricing and the features on offer make it worth every cent that is invested in it.

Customer Service

Customer reviews all over the internet have shown consistency in satisfaction with the support offered by phonepower.

Keeping in mind that some percentage of its customer base is residential users, there are bound to be a lot of queries from people who are not computer savvy. Since I’m sure this includes MOST small business users this is a REAL benefit for the person needing a small business phone service. The customer service is friendly, knowledgeable and trained.

Final Verdict

At a time when there is a johny-come-lately VoIP service provider every now and then, it’s difficult to select one purely on the basis of its pricing. There are bound to be lower priced service providers than Phone Power.

But if you are looking at a clean and hassle free performance from your VoIP, then Phone Power ranks up there with the best in the business and at an extremely affordable price. They do not have a free trial but do have a 30 day money back guarantee.

Jive Communications Virtual PBXJive Communications VOIP Review

In the last few years, there has been a substantial increase in the number of companies offering hosted PBX or VoIP services specifically to the small and medium sized business niche.

There is huge potential in this market because almost every business, irrespective of its size wishes to have enterprise grade communication services.

Jive Communications is one such VoIP provider that has recently garnered a lot of good reviews from customers. So, we decided that it was time to look beneath the sheets.

Is Jive Communications as good as people say it is?

An Overview

What started as a software engineering firm in Utah way back in 1999 shifted its focus to VoIP communications somewhere down the line and one must say that it is their expertise in software that has enabled them to create a feature rich VoIP service that is affordable, as well as scalable.

Today, Jive Communications caters mostly to the small and medium sized businesses in the United States.

They offer both voice as well as data plans. The plans are straightforward and so is the pricing. There are just two plans on offer and as a customer, that’s always better than having to browse through and compare multiple plans.

The Pricing

Flat Rate with 2,500 Share Minutes: Priced at $30 per handset per month, this plan includes 2500 shared minutes per handset. This does not include inbound calls to local numbers, or outbound calls to phone numbers that are part of a customer’s Jive account. If you exceed this limit then additional minutes are charged at $0.02 within the lower 48 states and Canada, toll free numbers are charged at $0.03 and DIDs are charged at $5 per month. This plan is ideal for companies/individuals with high usage.

Virtually Unlimited Minutes:  I know this sounds like maketing speak but with 2,500 shared minutes PER HANDSET this is pretty darn close. That means is you have 10 handsets you get 25,000 minutes shared between all lines.

For all the services that they offer, Jive Communications does not charge you anything over $30 per month. Yes for just $30, you get access to 2500 shared outbound minutes, unlimited inbound minutes, auto attendant, extensions, voicemail, call queues and Conference Bridge (10 at a time).

No Hidden Fees.

We like companies willing to make this claim. We hate it when we sign up for something at one price and then get our first bill and it has all kinds of unexpected line items.

 The Phones

Jive Communications VoIP service is compatible with a variety of SIP phones that include Aastra, Cisco/Linksys, Polycom, and Snom. When you purchase them (not part of the package), they are pre-programmed to work with the Jive network which means that all that the customer has to do is remove it from the box and plug it in. Phones start at a reasonable $110 adn go up to $375 for the grand executive model.

Standout Features

  • Call Transfer: Never miss out on an important phone call again as calls can be transferred to your cell phone or personal phone number.
  • Custom Hold Music & Messages: Now you can customize your hold music and even record custom messages.
  • Auto Attendant: Your calls will be answered and transferred to the right department or extension in the most professional manner.
  • Voicemail to Email: You can receive your voicemail messages as an email. Just download and read it.
  • Dial in Conferencing: This is a virtual conference room where both employer and employees can connect at the same time.
  • Take anywhere extensions: You can route calls through to a defined list of numbers. In simple terms, you will receive calls anywhere.
  • Call Analytics: You can receive easy-to-understand graphical call reports. This will include inbound/outbound calls by time of day, an overview of Direct Inward Dial (DID) calls, summary of calls by extension and more details.
  • Grow your business. Try RingCentral

The Final Verdict

Jive communications is an extremely robust VoIP service provider that offers complete pbx solutions at flat call rates, something which is a rarity nowadays.

They don’t offer a free trial which is a shame since trying this type of a service is pretty critial to insuring you’re getting the interface that works best for you.

Vocalocity – VoIP reviewed

An internet telephony award as one of the best products of the year 2007, ranking amongst the top 5 VoIP service providers in the market and its immense popularity with small companies is what makes Vocalocity, one of the biggest names in virtual PBX today.

Launched as recently as 2003, Vocalocity has risen.

And the rise has been fast.

Today, we look at some of the possible reasons why most small businesses look forward to Vocalocity VOIP when it comes to handling their business communication.

Simplicity in usage

When you sign up for a VoIP service, you want it to be fast and easy. And that’s one of the key features of Vocalocity. It is extremely easy to install and use.

The maximum time that a user takes to install Vocalocity will be 15 minutes. Mostly less.

And the only things required to install the service are a computer, an internet connection and a phone that’s compatible with the service. (Linksys, Polycom, and Aastra). This eliminates a lot of hassles associated with on-site hardware.

The website has detailed instructions including a demo video and pdf manuals that can be followed.  They also do a great job on walking you through choosing the best VOIP system for your business.

Overview

Vocalocity claims that over 80% of its subscribers are small business (companies with less than 20 employees) and in most such companies, people multitask.

With multiple extensions you can look like a bigger company by wearing different hats at a time, often working while on the move. With Vocalocity, you can carry the complete PBX service on the move with your cell phone.

Voice Pricing Plans

There are 3 different Voice Plans on offer called the Unlimited Extension plan, the metered extension plan and the virtual extension.

The difference between the three lies in their features and the pricing.

Unlimited Extension: Flat rate inbound and outbound calls across the US and Canada for one unique extension @ $39.99 USD per month. It also offers one additional company number at 9.99 USD.

Metered Extension: This plan is ideal for extensions that are not used for more than 30 minutes a day. It is priced at $14.99 per month and every additional minute will cost you $0.03

Virtual Extension: If you do not require an office phone, then the virtual extension plan is perfect for you. You can receive all calls on your cell phone and the plan also includes voicemail, direct dial phone number, Virtual Extension forwarding to another VoIP number, landline or answering service. The plan is priced at $14.99.

 Some add on features include

  • Call Queue $14.99 a month
  • Conference Bridge $14.99 a month plus minutes
  • Voicemail transcriptions $4.99 a month per extension
  • Faxing at $14.99 a month, no limits (please confirm as these items can and sometimes do change)

A quick look:

  • Unlimited Calling: On Unlimited and Virtual Extension Plans
  • Local Number Portability (LNP): Retaining your existing number by porting it.
  • Web Portal Interface: Users can customize their own services using a web interface.
  • Directory Assistance (411)
  • Emergency Service (911)

Other than this standard add-on services like caller ID, call waiting, call hold, call transfer, three-way calling, call logs and caller ID block are also available.

The conference bridge which allows up to 30 users to conference at a time is one of the stand out features of the service.

The Vocalocity Voicemail (password protected voicemail, greeting options), Vocalocity Inbox (voice, fax, email unified inbox, deleted item recovery) and Vocalocity Virtual Receptionist (automatic customized time of day and day of week greetings, dial-by-name directory, virtual department set up) are some of the other features.

The Differentiating Factor

Unlike most other VoIP companies in the market, Vocalocity does not use third party technology. It has spent more than $15 million to create a service that is reliable, customizable and affordable for micro enterprises.

Which VoIP company assigns you a personal business manager to look after your custom requirements? Vocalocity does!

If you have been bothered by lack luster customer support in the past, then it ends here.

The Final Verdict

A quick analysis reveals that Vocalocity offers everything that a small business requires to enhance its business communication, credibility and reliability. We especially like the unlimited minutes. Overall a good value but please be sure you have the extra feature you want and that they are included in your plan and are not an extra charge.  We wish they offered a Free trial but they do not.

Other Features: 5 Extensions and 1,000 minutes at $29.95

Summary: With great prices and some innovative features combined with a 6 month free trial eVocie is at least worth considering. They lack some of the features of the other services but they do cover the things you’ll use most.

Thanks to hosted PBX services, today, small and medium sized businesses also have access to an array of business technologies that were previously available only for large scale organizations. This has led to a surge in demand for these services leading to an increase in the number of service providers in the market.

Today, we review eVoice.com, a new but promising entrant into the world of hosted PBX service providers.

What is eVoice.com?

eVoice.com is an online virtual phone service that can answer calls for you while you are busy, rout your calls to the chosen destination, collect voice mails for you, transcript them and send them as text messages and a lot more. All this comes without the additional cost of hiring employees or buying costly equipment.

At a time when there are hundreds of companies providing similar services, it’s not easy to subscribe to the services of a relatively new one. So it’s important to know what separates eVoice.com from its competitors.

The Upside

  • Competitive Pricing: The most important differentiating factor is the cost per minute. eVoice.com charges lower than the industry standard and hence, even their largest package of 1000 minutes doesn’t cause a dent in the budget for individuals or small businesses.
  • No Software to download: Unlike with most other hosted PBX companies customers do not have to download or install software while using eVoice.com.
  • Try before you buy: You can try eVoice.com risk free for as long as 6 months (the lowest plan) to decide whether it is the right service for you. All the other plans can be tried for 30 days.
  • 24/7 Customer Support: Irrespective of when and where you face a problem with the service, you can always contact eVoice.com customer support. They are available 24/7 via phone, email and live chat. They also have a decent FAQ section that answers most of the common problems faced by people.

Downside

While it does manage to create a niche for itself with competitive pricing and basic services, it does lack a few additional features being offered by top service providers like RingCentral. Internet faxing, after hour calls, number of extensions (eVoice.com only offers 5 extensions in its most advanced plan), international virtual numbers etc are some of the problem areas.

Core Features

All three plans being offered by eVoice.com have four main core features which are further extended into several add on features. Let’s take a closer look at these features.

Auto-Attendant

Auto-Attendant

1.   auto attendant: The Auto Attendant feature alone makes eVoice.com completely worth every cent of its subscription cost. Calls are

answered in a professional manner and routed to any employee, department, extension or any three numbers of your choice. Greetings can be customized!

2.   Local Numbers (US & Canada): Having a local number against your name gives the impression of a large business having a nationwide presence. It helps you to expand easily to any city of your choice.

3.   Toll free 800 number: A toll free 800 number not only enhances your credibility as a business, but it also increases the number of viable leads. Irrespective of whether you are an organization with 3 members or even lesser, it immediately creates an impression of a large company.

4.   Voice Mail Services: You can receive your voice mail messages in your email inbox, as a text message or retrieve it free using an

Voice to Text

Voice to Text

800 number. Voice mail services ensure that you never miss out on an important business call.

Add on Features

There are a lot of bundled features that come along with all of the eVoice service plans.

  1. Speed Dial
  2. Music on Hold
  3. Call Conferencing
  4. Call forwarding

The Final Verdict

With their three plans priced at $12.95, $19.95 and $29.95 per month, Evoice.com certainly is one of the best priced PBX service providers out there.

While eVoice is not the virtual phone service with the most features, it’s cost effective and is ideal for any small business looking for a professional telephone set up without the huge costs associated with it.

Quality services, Excellent Pricing, Good Customer Support, definitely a must try service!

My1Voice VoIP Services Reviewed

My1Voice is a relative newcomer to the VOIP and virtual PBX world. But given their solid background in delivering virtual service with their MyFax service they are well equipped in the areas of provisioning, infrastructure, service development and customer service.

  • Enhance Voicemail with online access and Voicemail to text

Why are they different? For My1Voice some of the key differences are the simplicity of the pricing plans and the features they throw in for free which include number porting, vanity numbes, unlimited extensions, voicemail to text and per second billing which can help keep your costs down.

Now, let’s take a look at their plans.

Pros & Cons

As is the case with every service provider, there were certain things I liked with My1Voice and a few things that I wished would be added to their services.

Pros

  •  Affordable: Easy to understand pricing plans
  • Unlimited Extensions
  • Reliable: My1Voice is backed by Protus IP, the same folks that bring us MyFax and has a long history of reliable service
  • Customizable: The service is highly customizable. You can customize everything from the number where you receive calls once you leave office to the afterhours greeting message.
  • Technical Support: If not the best, My1Voice has a technical support team that ranks highly. They have phone, email and chat support. Most queries are answered in the first call itself.
  • Feature Rich: Good feature set for an inexpensive service, My1Voice also offers some of the best ‘value for money’ features in the market.
  • Complete Online Control: My1Voice has an online administration panel which lets you access and control your account. It is extremely user friendly and well documented
  • Money Back Guarantee: Almost all the plans on My1Voice come with a 30 day trial which allows you to benefit from the service to see if it’s right for you.

 Cons

  •  Limited number of plans: The starter plan is almost useless to anyone but the best value plan at $30 a month with 1000 minutes is a pretty good deal
  • Can’t send faxes: You’ll need to get their fax service if you wish to send faxes though plans are available from MyFax for as low as $10 a month including 500 faxes.

 Final Verdict – 4 Stars

Overall given the quality of the Protus network, the aggressive pricing, always available customer service based in North America I’d have to rate My1Voice as a solid choice. Given the free trial this is an excellent solution for an individual consultant or a small business that need all the essential services of an automated VOIP phone service.

  • Customizable: The service is completely customizable. You can customize everything from the number where you receive calls once you leave office to the afterhours greeting message.
  • Technical Support: If not the best, Nextiva has a technical support team that ranks up there with the best in the business. Most queries are answered in the first call itself. One’s that are not are diligently worked upon and don’t be surprised if you receive a courtesy follow up call.
  • Feature Rich: Other than offering what anyone would expect from a VoIP company, Nextiva also offers some of the best ‘value for money’ features in the market.
  • Complete Online Control: Nextiva has an online control panel which lets you access and control your account. Apart from letting you control your account from anywhere in the world, it also is extremely user friendly.
  • Money Back Guarantee: Almost all the plans on Nextiva come with a 30 day money back guarantee which allows you to rest aside your skepticism before you join them.

 Cons

  •  No G.722 wideband (HD) codec: One of the only drawbacks that I could find in Nextiva is that they do not have support for G.722 wideband (HD) codec.

 Final Verdict

There are so many VoIp service providers and there’s so little that can differentiate them. But it is the small things that matter the most when it comes to a final verdict and that’s where Nextiva scores over the rest. Service quality, pricing, features and support, Nextiva certainly is at par with the best in the business.
